The €20 ETIAS fee explained

2 min de leituraPor ETIAS Requirements Team

One of the first questions travellers ask about ETIAS is simple: how much does it cost? Here is a clear breakdown of the official fee, who is exempt, and how to avoid confusion between official charges and optional service fees.

The official fee

The official ETIAS government fee is €20 per adult applicant. This is set by the European authorities and is the same regardless of where you apply from.

Who is exempt from the fee

Some applicants are expected to be exempt from the €20 fee, although they still need an ETIAS authorisation:

  • Applicants under 18 years old
  • Applicants over 70 years old

Family members of EU citizens may also benefit from exemptions in certain cases.

Official fee vs service fee

This is where travellers sometimes get confused, so it is worth being precise:

  • The official fee (€20) goes to the European authorities and is required for the authorisation itself.
  • A service fee is what a private company — like ETIAS Requirements — charges separately for optional assistance, such as checking your information, simplifying the form and offering support.

Using an assistance service is always optional. You can apply yourself on the official EU portal and pay only the €20 official fee.

Our commitment to transparency

We believe travellers should know exactly what they are paying for. If you choose our service, the official €20 fee and our separate service fee will be shown clearly before you pay anything. We are an independent company and are not affiliated with the European Union or any government.

When ETIAS opens, you will be able to decide what is right for you. Until then, join our waiting list to be notified — and to receive a clear summary of all costs before applications go live.
